Sports Medicine subspecialty certification
Dr. Jonathan King is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, and the only surgeon in the area who has achieved a Sports Medicine subspecialty certification. He has extensive experience working with athletes, and completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles where he served as Assistant Team Physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Galaxy, Avengers, and the USC Trojans. Dr. King currently works with a wide range of patients, from professional athletes to weekend warriors. His goal is to help patients of all ages and athletic levels return to their pre-injury activities at the highest level possible.
Dr. King has a particular interest in arthroscopic reconstruction of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. He uses minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to treat rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, ACL injuries, meniscus tears, cartilage damage, and elbow injuries. With arthroscopic surgery, patients generally have less pain and are able to achieve a full recovery more quickly.
Dr. King is the region’s leader in advanced shoulder reconstruction, performing a wide range of surgeries including total shoulder replacements, bone graft procedures for recurrent instability, and tendon transfers for non-repairable rotator cuff tears.
Dr. King is committed to surgeon education, and has instructed cadaver skills courses. He also has international volunteer experience, and looks forward to more opportunities in the future.
